In Memory of a Dear Friend 2018
Recently I received a call from Larry Friel, the man who gave us our first donation to start the park and to build the mosaic wall. He told me his long battle with his illness was coming to an end and that he was okay with that. He shared all the joy the dog park brought him over these years, and the peace it gave him as he sat there thinking about his son and how great a memorial and tribute it was to Jason. He told me he was ready to move to hospice and even shared the songs he had selected for his funeral. It was a lengthy call, but one where we both relived what a wonderful footprint his charitable donation had made happen.
This past weekend, I received that "other" call, this time from his sister, telling me Larry’s battle had come to an end. I will go to his funeral Monday to hear those songs he selected, and to sit and cherish the wonderful gift he gave the community. Larry was a good buddy to me over these last nine years. He often called to share an idea or an observation after he had been to the park just to sit in his truck and watch. Larry was the spark that got the movement rolling so both human and canine populations would have a park that made them all smile more. I ask you to hold him and his family in your thoughts and know that a kind man has gone to join Cleo, his son’s dog represented in the mosaic at the park, and his son Jason in a painfree dog park elsewhere.
Happy Tails, Barb

Thanks to your generous support and donations, we have met our goal of raising $5000 in our 2018 Annual Appeal. We really appreciate the support everyone has shown for the Falmouth Dog Park, and this fund drive will go a long way toward meeting our annual expenses.
